1,001 Reasons....

image via Momformation blog

I should not be a mom.

#1. I have no patience...It disappeared with my waistline, when I was pregnant.

#2-1,000. It doesn't matter....number one says it all!

#1,001. I have no patience...

Yeah, that about says it all folks.

My bathroom looks like....

A Pantry!

In the past month and a half I have deleted and discarded a few items from my bathroom counter and shower, and replaced them with something out of the pantry/kitchen.

The idea came from reading some blog posts here and there, that I happened to stumble on. There is quite the craze going on around the world to quit 'pooing. Yep, I'm now one of them...I haven't 'pooed in over a month now....*giggle*. I haven't used store bought shampoo in a month. I ran out about that time and decided that was the best time to try this new method. Here's a link to the blog I found it on (of course via my Pinterest board "re-vamping my vamp)

One quart hot water
1/4 cup baking soda
(I put the mixture in an old sports water bottle from the cupboard
shake it before using it)
I use about a 1/4 cup of vinegar to rinse
(before shower I pour vinegar in plastic cup, fill to the rim with warm shower water and pour over hair after rinsing the baking soda out)
Rinse with warm water. I clean my hair now only a couple times a week.

Then there's this...deodorant/antipersperant. We all use it, need it and wouldn't think about going all summer with out some. Yet, how healthy is it for us? Especially us women with risks of breast cancer. Then there is the risk of Alzheimers and dementia's...
So I found this easy recipe, 3 ingredients and voila' an amazing and healthy deodorant!!

!/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup arrowroot powder
6 T. coconut oil
(you can add Tee Tree Oil. I happened to have some so I added it)
I swear to you...You will not stink and you may find that you don't really sweat much either!

The last thing (that I'll share this post) that I've started using is the Oil Cleansing Method. Yep, you read it right...I'm cleaning my face with oil! Olive Oil and [I chose] Grapeseed Oil.  It's natural, pH balanced and scientifically proven that oil breaks down oil....
Here's the recipe I'm using. There are a few different secondary oils that you can choose. Since selling and wearing a certain "pink" brand a couple years ago my skin hasn't been the same...thankfully this seems to be working well for me and I don't have any complaints.

Feel free to leave me a comment if you tried/try any of these ideas. Or if you have a natural health and beauty recipe that you use...I'd love to try them!
Always love your comments!

Going back

To school...the daddy version!

Well, today is the day that The Frumpy house has been waiting for.... Daddy starts college!

He's been talking about it and thinking about it and debating the pros and cons and praying about it for about FIVE YEARS!!

YEP, this man I'm married to doesn't go into things with out a lot of prayer, thought and research!! Quite the opposite of me really...that's for later discussion!

Tonight is his first class. He says he's nervous, excited and quite naturally clueless. He graduated from high school in 1989...it's been a looooong time since he's HAD to crack the books and do some tests.

There really isn't anything that he couldn't learn. He's learned learning a lot just being married to moi!!

He's taking the CDL, truck driving course. It will be two semesters and a 3-4 month training on the road program. So this time next year he should be able to get himself and job driving.

Because it's so new, and he isn't sure about wether he wants to be gone from the family for long periods of time...we have agreed that 1-2 years of driving is the goal. With the ability to get out of debt to my parents being the ultimate goal....

So, here's to you Mr Frump......Good luck, God Bless! I'm soo proud of you, and so are the girlies!

We are Drowning in Science....

These days!  The Frumpy House is all a flutter with learning about scientific things....yep, we like to dabble in the sciences!

First up, Lauryn with her Biology (a-herm)...The Human Body!
I have successfully steered her clear of the reproductive goings on in the human body. I guess it may not be appropriate for a 7 year old to have the goings on of reproduction on her story board!! She has successfully labeled and found interesting facts about the 7 different human body functions or parts.

Like did you know that you can fit 600,000 skin cells into an area the size of a postage stamp? Yep, you can...it's scientific!

To keep her project kid and grandparent friendly we are including a video from the ever popular "Schoolhouse Rock" series.....

The Little'un, Liyah is a Kindergartener this year...which to her means she gets to do things that she's seen her sister do for the past 3 years!

She chose to study Animal Science....as in the Mammal and Aviary critters!
Specifically, she is studying animal foot prints.  She's learning to match the foot prints with the animals...she making it a nice interactive display.

She's gonna make a quiz sheet for all her visitors, see how smart they are!! Hmmm, momma's thinking she should buy candy for the test takers! Smarties for those who pass, and Dum-Dum suckers for those who don't!! HAHAHAHA (I prob'ly will cause I'm that kinda sick mom....)

We are researching, finding, printing, writing, cutting, pasting and learning so much around here, we don't quite know how to handle it!!

Any fun school projects happening at your house yet? Share any links with me if you blog about it!!

Livin' It Up....

Skunky Style!!

Well, a few months ago, we noticed an animal (or multiple animals) were feasting on the cat's food. Knocking over the barrel & chowing down on a free midnight feast.

Being the frugal people we are, we didn't take too kindly to these wild critters comin over & helping themselves.

So we got a live trap from a neighbor friend & decided we'd see what would come about....

Specimen #1:

Granted, it's cute. But, when this rascal & all his brothers, sisters, aunts & mothers come over for snackage....it's a LOT of kibble!!

We set the trap a couple more times that week & didn't catch any more critters.

Then late last night, there was a huge crash on the back porch. Being the brave one...okay, maybe I was the only adult awake, I went & investigated. My planter had gotten knocked down & broken, & the cat was watching & hissing @ something in the yard.

I did what any true country girl would do. Walked out barefooted, threw some cat food in the trap & set it.....

Specimen #2:

Yes, this is taken from inside the house...I did open the window to get a clear view (window washing is low on the cleaning list). Let's just say this critter is even cuter than the raccoon....the question now is, "What the HECK do we do with this bag of stinky bones?"

The only thing we could think of...

YouTube Video

Yes, the little ingrate did spray...TWICE! Yes, it was the husband who went out & opened the trap door. Yes, it smells like skunk outside our house....HORRIBLY like skunk. Yes, the husband stripped down & I'm washing clothes & tennis shoes in vinegar, baking soda & peroxide!!

Let's hope the stink leaves really quick!!
Here's some more video I took while the man was trying to open the trap, please excuse the laughing...I sound like a pack a day smoker, but really it was from the cat sleeping w/ me last night (allergies)...
